It's that time again! Next in our blog series, A-Team: Insights & Interviews, we're introducing you to yet another cat-lover - they're certainly popular around here - Tanya Moroz!
Birthplace: Barnaul, Altai Krai, Russia
Current Location: Barnaul, Altai Krai, Russia
Position/Role: Lead of Technical Support Engineers
Tell us three fun facts about yourself:
- I can spend a lot of time (days or even weeks!) playing video games. They’re my weakness. :)
- I’m still trying to find a way to build Theremin by myself.
- I really wanted to be a military aircraft pilot. I applied to military flight school before entering university, but without any luck. That’s how I became a programmer.
What's your favorite type of music?Psychedelic, Acid rock, Blues
If you could choose any superpower, what would you choose and why?The ability to control time. This would allow me to spend more time on the really important things, be able to handle everything and still have time leftover to sleep! :)
How did you end up here? What was your career path like?Appodeal is my first job after graduating university. I majored in "Software Engineering". I had a few temp jobs while studying: I worked as an assistant at the Department of Applied Mathematics and I also was an assistant at the Technical Laboratory at my University.
My path to Appodeal was nothing extraordinary. I saw an open position for a Technical Support Specialist, responded, interviewed, and got the job. And here I am a year later, happy to be the Support Team Lead.
I’m really glad that I started my career path with Appodeal, because I feel that my work is really appreciated here, and my colleagues are very cool guys!
Walk us through an average day:My day starts with checking of Intercom chat, Slack, Skype conversations, e-mail, Telegram and anywhere else that I might receive questions from Appodeal users. There are usually several people from the support team on duty at a time, so everyone checks all the channels and does their best to provide assistance to our customers. We try to be in contact with the rest of the team during the workday and help each other with any questions.
Based on the emerging user questions, we often have to check out user apps, monitor stats in the dashboard, correct the operation of various functions on server or SDK side and make sure that the users’ ad integration are in the proper place. As a result, we end up working with different platforms and frameworks every day.
When we find a problem, we usually try to fix them ourselves. But sometimes we have to report detected issues to our server dev team or sdk dev team.
In addition, I always watch over the quality of the responses and work of our Support Department. We are constantly working to improve our performance and keep users satisfied with the quality of our support.
What are your main tools?Slack, Intercom, Skype, Thunderbird, Android Studio, Xcode, Unity, Charles, Appodeal Admin Panel, Notepad, Kibana
What projects are you working on right now?I’m working on providing high quality and timely support to all Appodeal customers! This is the most important goal for the Support Team. We are also working on plugins and programs which accelerate and simplify all the processes and make our work easier.
What is your spirit animal? The cat, for sure.
Where do you see yourself in two years?I just hope that I will move forward. It’s the most important thing for me.
What part of your job do you find the most rewarding? When I see that my advice or the advice of my colleagues was helpful to someone. Seeing “Thank you” or “Your team did a great job” makes me really happy. :)
What is your meditation? How do you stay focused? When I get overwhelmed, I get away from the computer, lie down, let my mind go blank, and relax. Afterward, I can more easily focus on the most important issues.
Check back next month for another A-team interview!
